First Days of Kindergarten

Mrs. Harris'  morning and afternoon kindergarten classes had a great first week of school!  We made new friends, learned about our new teachers and school, and even read a few new books!  It's sure to be a great year at Western Elementary School!

Go Cats Go!

You may have heard! Mrs. Harpole is a little excited about the UK wildcats! To cheer them on in their journey to the national championship, we had a "BLUE-OUT"! Look at these festive cats fans!

Arts Day!

A few weeks ago our students enjoyed a day full of the arts! From decorating cookies to painting eggs, this day was one to remember!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Kindergarten students helped to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday last week. Each day students were encouraged to dress up in ways that related to many of our favorite Dr. Seuss' books. Monday was silly socks day from The Foot Book. Tuesday was hat day for The Cat in the Hat. Wednesday was mixed up clothes for Wacky Wednesday. Thursday was green day for Green Eggs and Ham. On Friday, the teachers wore "Thing One" shirts. It was a fun way to celebrate a favorite author.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Harris' AM and PM classes celebrated Valentine's Day with friends. Students enjoyed sugar cookies, carrots with dip, strawberries, and cheese cubes. Passing out valentines to friends was one of the best parts for students.

Happy 100 Days of Kindergarten!

Our kindergartners were so excited to celebrate the 100th day of school! Students worked with their families to decorate an article of clothing with 100 items. Everything from stickers to buttons to cereal and pasta were used. Our kindergartners showed off their projects for all to see. Students from every grade came out from their rooms to watch our fashion show. Thank you to all the parents and special guests who were able to come to our fashion show!
